"French Renaissance Antique Dining Set of Four"
 
We are delighted to offer for sale this restored suite of four antique hand-carved Victorian English oak chairs and matching draw-leaf dining table.
 
The set c. 1860-1880 is a victorian representation of earlier 1603-1625 Jacobean design.
 
The chairs feature a stunning leaves & grapevine motif sculpted to frame. There is seat-back cushion, which is flanked by clockwise and anti-clockwise barley twist columns.
 
The barley twist motif continues in vertical and horizontal form as part of the support structure under the new upholstered seats.
 
The table features matching chunky barley twist legs with an extendable draw-leaf table.
 
We have painted this set in No. 293 Farrow & Ball "Jitney" and contrasted the table top by completely stripping the old finish to natural oak and sealing with a spray application of clear satin lacquer.
